Various uprates are available on 4×2 and 4×4 pickups to provide between 200-300kg more payload. In some cases a higher towing weight can also be achieved.

Some of the models covered for uprates to 3500kg include:
Toyota Hilux, Isuzu D-Max, Nissan Navara, Land Rover Defender, VW Amarok, Ford Ranger.

Each vehicle is individually assessed against our test approvals and to uprate to a higher weight, changes to the rear suspension and tyres may be required.

Air-assisted Rear Suspension Kit

Our most popular uprate involves the fitting of an approved air-assisted rear suspension. The benefits with using our approved air kit are greater loading allowance on the rear axle as well as better handling and ride performance through the full weight range from unladen up to fully laden weight. Additions to the air kit provide driver controls for partial raising/lowering of the rear suspension to give better access for loading and for levelling up.

Pickup Towing increase

Another of our more popular uprates is the raising of the towing allowance to provide a full 3500kg of towing. Some pickup manufacturers provide an amount of towing through a term, ‘payload sacrifice’. This essentially means you achieve the towing allowance by not having as much loaded in to the pickup. Some operators may be able to work with this, but you didn’t buy that pickup to drive it empty did you?
Given the payload sacrifice of some manufacturers means you could only drive with driver and passenger with nothing else, this isn’t really desirable.
What SvTech are able to offer is a means of increasing the allowance to provide a full 3500kg of towing of top of the pickup design GVW.
Yes, you can have your cake and eat it!
The towing weight increase is usually in combination of a gross weight increase and is likely to require the addition of rear axle air assisted suspension as well as appropriate tyres.
In addition to this, we will need to ensure your towbar and towball rating is up to scratch.
Found on the towbar and towball should be a rating plate, bearing an ‘S’ value and ‘D’ value, along with the approval details. We will require a photo of these plates when you submit your enquiry.
