Uprating

As you may be aware, the DVSA is paying close attention to motorhomes, because over recent years it has found that more and more of them are running overloaded.

SvTech can uprate most makes and models of motorhomes.

We have carried out dynamic brake testing on all models in order to create precedent reports with the DVSA, against which we offer uprates to give the user as much as 500kg extra payload.

Obviously each make and model is different, but we are confident in being able to help you!

Downrating

As well as replating a vehicle to legally carry heavier loads, owners can also reduce the legal maximum weight their vehicle can carry.

This is called downplating and it normally occurs for one of two reasons; either licence restrictions applying to drivers turning 70 and those not having the C1 category on their licence, or for Low Emission purposes whereby the owner wants to reduce their payment amount by reducing payload allowance, thus dropping into a cheaper category.

VIN Plates and their location:

The motorhome Manufacters plate can sometimes be hard to find and, for older vehicles or van conversions, may not have one.

Similarly if your vehicle doesn’t have AlKo suspension, you may only find the Stage 1 plate and the motorhome manufacturers plate.
