Why would anyone wish to re-rate a vehicle?
If a vehicle is designed to operate at a given weight, how can it be adapted to operate a higher or a lower weight?
Want to Uprate your vehicle?
Why would anyone wish to re-rate a vehicle?
There are a number of answers to this question:
- Because my vehicle will not carry sufficient payload and I do not wish to change it for a bigger one unless absolutely necessary..
- Because I cant afford to change it..
- Because I am paying a higher rate of excise duty than I need to..
- Because I want someone to drive it who does not have an HGV licence..
- Because I want to escape the need for plating and testing..
- Because I don't have an operator's licence..
- Because I can do without having to use a tachograph
Note that the first two of the above reasons relate to up-rating and the remainder concern down-rating. This ratio is typical of the re-rating process. There are many more vehicles requiring down-rating than up-rating. Mainly, because it is technically more difficult to up-rate than to down-rate and there is obviously a limit to the up-rating capacity of any vehicle (see uprating info). Whereas, every vehicle will down-rate to a greater or lesser extent.
Our service is well proven, the methods are acceptable to the Vehicle Inspectorate (VOSA) and it will cost you a lot less than you think. It is also quick and as easy as D.I.Y.
